Increases hygiene and Breaks down organic waste accumulation in filter and pond systems
Filtration: there is nothing more vital in the closed environment of our pond systems than an efficient filter to help maintain water quality. Filter systems normally comprise of a mechanical stage to trap large waste material blanket weed, large mulm (fish waste) etc. and secondly a biological stage known affectionately as the"biomass" this area of the filter system is primarily responsible for removing pollutants from the water Ammonia, Nitrite etc.
The chemeoautotrophic beneficial bacteria Nitrosomonas spp and Nitrobacter spp that populate a filter require an inorganic surface, carbon, oxygen and a nutrient source for survival. The nutrient is of course, the Ammonia & nitrite contained chemically within the water along with the carbon & phosphate requirement. We assist the requirement for oxygen by placing air bubblers in the filter or pond and lastly, a medium matting, gravel, flocour etc. for the bacteria to live on. Because a filter is exactly that, particle matter builds up on all surfaces within the system on both the mechanical & unfortunately on the biological stage as well. This "build up" is organic matter, and is detrimental to efficiency of the filter. Organic matter consumes oxygen from the water in the filter system and organic material on the biomass will reduce the effectiveness of the beneficial bacteria. If the bacteria that has attached to the filter media are covered with organic matter, the bacteria will be unable to make contact with the water flow and the process of oxidizing the pollutants can become very inefficient. The resultant effect is the possible increase in pollutants if left unchecked. A dirty filter environment is also thought to contribute to Koi dermis condition Hikui.
The best way to clean a filter is not through "shock" cleaning methods like hosing with water, which disturbs the biomass, but to apply a maintenance regime to keep the filter system at optimum efficiency. Super C Special is a special blend of active enzymes & minerals with no chemical additives, and has been formulated to break down harmful organic matter into inorganic waste that can be flushed or purged from the filter system. Thus allowing more beneficial bacteria to populate the biomass, which helps reduce the pond pollutants Ammonia & Nitrite and Keeps your filter system in a clean hygienic condition. Whether your pond has been running 5 months or 5 years hygiene in the pond and filter environment is of paramount Importance.
Super C Special is not intended to replace filter maintenance, but will reduce the severity and the frequency of the cleaning the filters and chambers.
Super C Special is also beneficial when applied directly to the pond, the enzymes will contribute to reducing organic waste material therefore reducing the biological oxygen demand on the pond. Super C Special complements Kusuri Klay and our Eco pure products they are all non - invasive chemical free products. Directions for filters, Mix 25 grms (1 level scoop provided) per 1000 galls of pond water, Into 3-4 litres of pond water. Mix into a milky solution then add a proportion to each filter bay. Use twice weekly for 1 month, then reduce dose to once a week thereafter. For ponds, use at the same rate and apply directly all around pond. Weekly use recommended. Super C will cloud water for a few hours only.
