| Fin Rot is easy to diagnose, loss of tissue resulting in split or ragged fins. Usually the edge of the fin is attacked, however holes can appear in the middle of a fin. The edges can appear as opaque or whitish, however in advanced cases there may be some reddening and inflammation. If left untreated Fin rot can destroy the entire fin and bacterial disease can start to invade the fish's body. TREATMENT Treat topically, trim of damaged area and to help stop secondary infection treat with suitable antibacterial solution directly onto the damaged area. It may also help to add salt at half oz per gallon, you may also add a water treatment such as acriflavin or Sabbactisun. Severe cases will need antibiotics as perscribed by Vets. |
