Pond Algae & Blanket Weed
The arrival of spring often presents a problem for pond owners as the beautiful, clear green water of their ponds disappears beneath a blanket of lime green, slimy, stinky pond scum. "Pond scum" is actually a popular term for aquatic algae, which tend to "bloom," or grow excessively in the early months of spring, spreading over the surface of the pond in unsightly and odorous mats of green and brown.

Koi Types

Koi Feeding
Little and often is the best rule to follow when feeding koi. Koi will always take more than they could comfortably eat which can cause them to become unwell. Overfeeding will also lead to an increase in ammonia and nitrite which if unchecked could be fatal. Also, koi become bolder and tamer if they have worked up a bit of an appetite and will then hand feed.

Pond Water Purification
As all fish keepers know it is necessary to remove chlorine and other impurities from tap water when introducing it to a pond or aquarium. Medications
More fish are killed by poor care and overdosing/mixing medications than by disease. Always make sure you know what you are treating and the correct medication at the correct dosage is given.
