Skin Fluke

Skin Flukes ,Gyrodactylus and Gill Flukes, Dactylogyrus are widespread amongst pond fish. A Gill Fluke will have four eyespots which do not appear on Skin Flukes.

Treatment
Although very similar Skin Flukes give birth to live young whereas Gill Flukes lay eggs. One tretment will usually surfice for Skin Flukes but Gill Flukes may need to be treated twice. Flukes are becoming more difficult to treat as they become immune to medications. In a quarantine tank Chloramine T may be effective however due to excess dirt in a pond Formalyn/Malachite or Potassium Permanganate may be a better option, or Parazoryne
